A space for exploring movement through awareness and curiosity
Gikora was founded on a simple observation: many people have lost connection with their bodies. They move through their days without noticing how they sit, stand, reach, or bend. They experience discomfort but don't understand why.
We created this studio as a place where people could rediscover that connection. Not through rigid exercise programmes or competitive fitness challenges, but through gentle, curious exploration of movement.
The name "Gikora" itself reflects this philosophy—a neutral, open space where anyone can feel welcome to explore without preconceptions or intimidation.
Your body is not just a collection of parts. It's a three-dimensional space that you inhabit and move through life with.
When you think of your body as space rather than object, movement becomes exploration rather than exercise. You're not trying to sculpt or fix something—you're discovering the territory you already occupy.
Before making changes, we observe. What do you notice about your current movement patterns? Where do you feel ease? Where do you experience limitation?
We invite you to try different approaches. What happens if you shift your weight slightly? If you change your breathing? If you adjust your position?
Repeated exploration helps your body integrate new possibilities. Not repetition for its own sake, but mindful practice that deepens understanding.
The real work happens when you take what you've learned into your daily life. Movement practice becomes part of how you live.
"We don't teach people how to move. We create conditions where people can discover their own movement possibilities."
We believe in meeting people where they are. Some arrive with extensive movement experience. Others are just beginning to explore physical practice. Both are equally welcome.
Our approach emphasizes gradual, sustainable development rather than rapid transformation. This isn't about achieving dramatic results quickly—it's about building lasting understanding of how your body works.
Start with accessible movements that anyone can explore
Gradually introduce variations and combinations
Apply principles to your unique needs and interests
Movement without sensation is mechanical. We encourage participants to notice what they feel—not to judge it, but simply to observe.
This attention to sensation is what transforms exercise into practice. You're not just going through motions; you're developing awareness of your internal experience.
When we talk about flexibility, we don't just mean being able to touch your toes. We mean having options in how you move. The ability to adapt to different situations and demands.
Balance, similarly, isn't just about standing on one foot. It's about finding equilibrium in all areas of your movement—physical, but also in how you distribute effort, how you pace yourself, how you know when to push and when to rest.
These qualities become most valuable when they're integrated into how you live, not just what you do in a movement session.
Our instructors are educators first and foremost. They provide guidance, information, and create supportive environments for exploration. They don't diagnose, prescribe, or promise results. They facilitate learning.
Our instructors share knowledge about movement principles, biomechanics, and body awareness. They help you understand the "why" behind what you're exploring.
Rather than one-size-fits-all instruction, our educators help each person find what works for their unique body and circumstances.
If your body speaks a language, movement is its vocabulary. Every gesture, every shift in position, every change in breathing is part of that language.
Most people speak this language fluently but unconsciously. At Gikora, we help you become conscious of it—to understand what your body is saying and to expand its vocabulary.
We are committed to providing educational, exploratory movement experiences. We make no medical claims, offer no treatment, and promise no specific outcomes.
What we do offer is a supportive space where you can learn about movement, explore your body's capabilities, and develop greater awareness of how you move through life.
This is education, not medicine. Exploration, not treatment. Discovery, not diagnosis.
